The City Council of the City of Calimesa recognizes the unique talents and abilities of its many concerned and involved citizens; it therefore eagerly accepts advice and assistance as it is offered. In an effort to take full advantage of such assistance, the City has in place a number of formal commissions and advisory committees that meet regularly to address specific areas of interest. Anyone interested in serving on a commission or advisory committee is encouraged to contact the City Clerk by calling 909-795-9801, ext. 233.

PLANNING COMMISSION
Purpose: The Planning Commission is a five-member body. Members are appointed by each City Council member and serve terms consistent with those of the Councilmember who appointed them. The Commission's functions, established by Calimesa Municipal Code Chapter 9.1.03, include: Preparing, periodically reviewing, and revising the General Plan as necessary; implementing the General Plan through actions including the administration of specific plans, zoning, and subdivision ordinances; Annually reviewing the capital improvement plan of the City and the local public works projects of other local agencies for their consistency with the General Plan; Endeavoring to promote public interest in, comment on, and understanding of the General Plan and regulations to it; Consult and advise with public officials and agencies, public utility companies, civic, educational, professional, and other organizations, and citizens generally concerning implementation of the General Plan; Promoting the coordination of local plans and programs with the plans and programs of other public agencies; Performing such other functions as are required by the Planning and Zoning Law and as may be provided by the City Council, including conducting studies and preparing plans other than those required or authorized by the Planning and Zoning Law.
Meetings: The Planning Commission convenes the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m.
COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION
Purpose: The Community Services Commission is responsible for recommending policies and procedures to the City Council for the administration, operation, development, improvement, and maintenance of community facilities including parks, recreation facilities, and park & recreation programs. This Commission also serves as the Historical Commission and meets in that capacity on an as-needed basis.
Meetings: Meets 1st Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. in the Senior Center.
TRAILS, OPEN SPACE, AND BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
Purpose: The Trails, Open Space, and Beautification Commission is responsible for recommending policies and procedures to the City Council for the administration, operation, development and improvement of Trails, Open Space, and Beautification facilities and programs.
Meetings: Meets 2nd Tuesday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Senior Center.
LIBRARY COMMISSION
Purpose: The Library Commission is responsible for recommending policies and procedures to the City Council for the administration, operation, development and improvement of library facilities and programs.
Meetings: Meets 1st Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in the Senior Center.
PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY COMMISSION
Purpose: The Public Works and Safety Commission is responsible for recommending policies and procedures to the City Council for the administration, operation, development, improvement, and maintenance of all matters affecting public health, safety, and welfare.
Meetings: Meets 1st Thursday of each month at 5:00 p.m. in the Senior Center.
