Community Development DepartmentThe Community Development Director (CDD) reports to the City Manager and is responsible for the day-to-day running of the Planning, Building and Code Enforcement Departments. The CDD also serves as the secretary to the Planning Commission and staff liaison to the Trails, Open Space and Beautification Committee and the General Plan Advisory Committee. The Planning Department provides zoning information to the public, reviews land use proposals and makes recommendations to the Planning Commission and the City Council. The Building Department issues building permits for new construction, swimming pools, patios, etc; conducts pre-and post-construction inspections, issues building code violations, and conducts building plan checks. The Building Department is guided by the standards in the State's Uniform Building Code. The Code Enforcement Department is the arm of the City that is responsible for making sure that properties conform to City codes and standards. This department issues citations and works closely with the City Attorney's office to make sure violators are brought into compliance.
