Code Enforcement DivisionThe Code Enforcement Division is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Calimesa by enforcing local Building, Zoning, and Public Nuisance Ordinances. The Code Enforcement Division responds to complaints of violations of the Calimesa Municipal Code, which includes, but is not limited to, public health and safety issues, zoning, housing, dangerous buildings, unsightly properties, and enforcement of business licenses. When a violation is identified, the responsible parties are contacted and requested to abate the violation. If the violator fails to comply with City codes, then an Administration Citation will be issued. Enforcement actions are taken both proactively and in response to requests for action received from citizens. The goal of Code Enforcement is to work with property owners, residents, and other City and public officials to improve the quality of life in our community and to help reduce crime in residential and commercial areas. Sometimes violations occur due to lack of knowledge of the local codes. Below you will find some of the most commonly violated municipal codes: PUBLIC NUISANCES Weeds, dead or overgrown vegetation. Abandoned or discarded, unused, or broken equipment and/or objects. Broken and or discarded furniture, unused household equipment or appliances, tools, or machinery. VEHICLES No vehicle is permitted to be parked or left standing in a residential zone except within an enclosed building, in an approved and legal carport, or upon an approved and legally designated driveway. Parking on front lawn areas or other non-driveway areas is not allowed. LANDSCAPING Any part of the developed lot that is visible from the street, including turf on separated parkways, shall be landscaped. Premises, such as yards and gardens visible from the street, shall be maintained in a manner which creates a neat, clean, and orderly appearance and which prevents blight and property deterioration. If after reviewing these codes you have any questions you may call Calimesa Code Enforcement at (909) 795-9801, ext. 222, Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and we will do our best to help you understand the requirements and if possible to help you find a solution to meet your particular needs.
