Redevelopment Agency History
The City of Calimesa was incorporated in 1990. In 1992, the City Council activated the Agency for the primary purposes of eliminating blight and stimulating the City's economic base. On December 30, 1993, the Agency adopted a Redevelopment Plan for the City of Calimesa Redevelopment Project Area Number One.
Prior to incorporation, the County of Riverside and its Redevelopment Agency approved a number of redevelopment projects in the unincorporated areas of the County, one of which, the Riverside County Redevelopment project Number 5-1986, included five non-contiguous
sub-areas. One of the non-contiguous sub-areas of Riverside County, identified as the Calimesa
Sub-area, was located in what would later become part of the City upon its incorporation. Pursuant to a Jurisdictional Transfer Agreement between the County and the Agency executed on June 13, 2000, the County agency transferred jurisdiction of this Calimesa
Sub-area to the Agency.
