Fire Prevention Staff

Fire Marshal

    Oversees coordination, staffing, and operational functions of the Fire Prevention Bureau including:

    Fire code enforcement

    Public education

    Fire investigations

    Building inspections

    Plans review for subdivisions, site developments, new construction and fire protection systems

Additional Responsibilities

    Enforces adopted fire codes, ordinances and standards

    Conducts technical plan review for subdivision development to address Fire Department concerns

    Meets with citizen groups, organizations, contractors, architects, engineers and developers, as requested

    Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the Fire Prevention Bureau

    Directs and coordinates the work plan for the Fire Prevention Bureau

    Maintains records related to:

o    Fire losses

o    Inspections

o    Investigations

o    Fire deaths and injuries

    Identifies resource and training needs for Fire Prevention Bureau personnel

Fire Prevention Inspector Responsibilities

    Assist the Fire Marshal in Fire Prevention Bureau affairs

    Conduct formal inspections of daycares, assisted living, and those that possess liquor licenses

    Conduct formal inspections for business licensing

    Assist the Fire Marshal with plans review to include building plans, fire sprinkler systems, and fire alarm systems.

    Stand on call 24/7 for fire investigations
