Fire Prevention Staff
Fire Marshal
• Oversees coordination, staffing, and operational functions of the Fire Prevention Bureau including:
• Fire code enforcement
• Public education
• Fire investigations
• Building inspections
• Plans review for subdivisions, site developments, new construction and fire protection systems
Additional Responsibilities
• Enforces adopted fire codes, ordinances and standards
• Conducts technical plan review for subdivision development to address Fire Department concerns
• Meets with citizen groups, organizations, contractors, architects, engineers and developers, as requested
• Develops and implements goals, objectives, policies and priorities for the Fire Prevention Bureau
• Directs and coordinates the work plan for the Fire Prevention Bureau
• Maintains records related to:
o Fire losses
o Inspections
o Investigations
o Fire deaths and injuries
• Identifies resource and training needs for Fire Prevention Bureau personnel
Fire Prevention Inspector Responsibilities
• Assist the Fire Marshal in Fire Prevention Bureau affairs
• Conduct formal inspections of daycares, assisted living, and those that possess liquor licenses
• Conduct formal inspections for business licensing
• Assist the Fire Marshal with plans review to include building plans, fire sprinkler systems, and fire alarm systems.
• Stand on call 24/7 for fire investigations
