Housing Rehabilitation

The City of Calimesa is offering financial assistance in the form of housing rehabilitation loans for the repair of homes owned and occupied by low-income households. Repairs that are eligible in this program include but are not limited to:

  • Roofs
  • Electrical
  • Plumbing
  • Handicap Improvements
  • Painting
  • Flooring
  • Energy Efficiency and Weatherization (i.e. dual-pane windows and sliders, water heaters, HVAC units, etc)
  • Other items which are necessary for the health and safety of occupants

How to Qualify

In order to qualify for such assistance, the home must be owner-occupied and located within the City of Calimesa. 

  • Homes can be either mobile/modular homes or single-family residences. 
  • Low to moderate income owner occupants who are 62 or older or permanently disabled may be eligible for 0% deferred payment loans up to $40,000. 
  • All other low-to-moderate-income owner occupants may be eligible for 2% deferred payment loans up to $40,000. 

The program is for all residents of Calimesa who meet the income requirements regardless of age. All loans are due upon sale of the property, transfer of title, refinance to cash-out/borrow, when borrower no longer occupies the home as his/her principal residence, or upon reaching the end of the term, whichever occurs first.
