City Council Elections

The City Clerk is the election official and the Secretary of State's designated filing officer for elected officials. The City Clerk is the filing officer for Campaign Disclosure Statements, Statements of Economic Interest and other reports required by the Fair Political Practices Commission. The City Clerk also receives and validates mandatory filings for candidates, designated employees and elected officials while coordinating consolidated and special elections with the County of Riverside Registrar of Voters.

Voter registration forms are available from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday at Calimesa City Hall, 908 Park Avenue, Calimesa, CA 92320.  You may also register to vote on-line with the California Secretary of States office. Login to their website here to Register to Vote.

The next City Council Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 for three (3) members of the City Council with full terms of four (4) years. The nomination, or candidate filing period opens at 7:00 am Monday, July 15, 2024 and closes on Thursday, August 8, 2024 at 5:30 p.m. for the November 5, 2024 General Municipal Election.  If an incumbent (current office holder) does not file within the initial candidate period, the candidate filing period will be extended for five calendar days and the extended candidate period will close at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024.

A Notice of Intention to run for office will not be accepted by the City Clerk until the opening of the appropriate Nomination Period.  A notice of election will be posted and published by the City Clerk prior to the opening of the Nomination Period announcing the election and the dates and times of the nomination period.  Once the Nomination Period is opened, those who desire to be a City Council Member Candidate should contact the City Clerk and schedule an appointment to receive a nomination packet and instructions.  Please allow at least 30 minutes when meeting with the City Clerk.  This will provide sufficient time to receive the nomination packet, instruction and important information from the City Clerk of the nomination process.
