The Community Development Department consists of three City Divisions:
These Divisions are aimed at promoting and protecting the City's built environment to ensure the public health, safety, and welfare of its residents in accordance with the City's adopted General Plan (PDF), Zoning Code, and Uniform Building and Fire Codes.
Responsibilities
Community Development facilitates the orderly physical and economic development of the city consistent with adopted General Plan policies. The department accomplishes this by administering advance planning, current planning, building permitting, building inspection programs in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
Among its duties, the Planning Department provides staffing, reports and recommendations to the Calimesa Planning Commission and City Council on planning and development matters. The Department also processes all development-related applications and conducts environmental reviews under the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act.
